Ryan Calhoon—Owner/Personal Training/Youth Martial Arts & Life Skills

Ryan began formal Martial Arts training in 1991, training Kenpo and Jeet Kune Do (JKD). 4-5 years later he began formal training with a different Instructor in a hybrid mix of arts including JKD, Non Classical Gung Fu, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Aikido and various other arts. Approximately 6 years later, Ryan began training Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), consisting primarily of Boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and Wrestling. He attended his first BJJ/MMA seminar in 1996 with Rickson Gracie and began attending numerous BJJ and MMA seminars with different coaches from that point on. Ryan has been coaching Youth Martial Arts for over 15 years, as well as Adult MMA, Kickboxing and Women’s Self Defense Seminars for over 12 years. He also coaches Youth Soccer and Flag Football through the City of Walla Walla Parks & Rec. and is a Certified Youth Sports Coach through the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA).

Ryan has been a Personal Trainer since 1990, working with clients of all ages and ability levels, dealing equally with exercise fitness, nutrition and lifestyle coaching. He was a Licensed & Nationally Certified Massage Therapist and Sports Massage Therapist for 11 years, operating his own successful holistic clinic ‘The Winner’s Edge’ for a number of years as well as working at local Acupuncture/Oriental Medicine clinics.

Ryan founded his own gym, CALHOON’S Martial Arts & Fitness in 2002, and in 2012 changed the name to CALHOON’S 24 Hour Fitness Center following the 24 hour facility remodel.
